In this segment of our A Day in the Life series, where we recognize some of Jitjatjo’s incredible Change Agents, we go behind the scenes with Finance team member, Brendon, to learn more about his role, what his typical day is like and what he loves about working at Jitjatjo.

Name: Brendon Mojica

Title: Finance

The best thing about working at Jitjatjo is knowing that the work I do directly impacts the company in a major way.

What do you do at Jitjatjo and how long have you been with the company?

I work in Finance and I have been with the company Since January of 2020.

What is your typical day like?
After waking up next to a dog who takes up my entire bed, we head out for our daily morning walk, which is our favorite part of the day. After returning home, we eat a nice breakfast, wash up, and then the workday begins. I’ll start off by reviewing any emails I have received, followed by the biggest aspect of my job: COLLECTING THAT MONEY. When I am not reaching out to clients regarding past due invoices, I am reviewing any received checks and marking the invoices listed as paid in our accounting platform. Once I have reviewed the aging invoice report, I check in on Slack and take care of any pending requests that I need to attend to, such as providing account statements or issuing refunds to clients, just to name a few.

How would you describe Jitjatjo in 3 words?
Innovative, Efficient & Friendly

Why did you choose Jitjatjo?
I was looking to work for a smaller company, comparatively speaking, with a ton of room for growth. Safe to say I made the right decision with Jitjatjo.

What do you love most about working at Jitjatjo?
The autonomy is huge for me. When the day begins, I know what has to be completed and I do it, no need for a boss to hover over me and monitor my every action. This is one of the many reasons why I enjoy working with our CFO, Matthew, he trusts me to get the job done.

What do you think makes a great team?
A great team consists of individuals who don’t only worry about themselves but also look out for the needs of the other members, especially when they are having a tough time with a project.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
Utilizing all of the knowledge my parents instilled in me and using that to move to a different state in search of better opportunities and living on my own.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

To always triple-check your work, and never trust someone else's numbers.

What has been your proudest moment at Jitjatjo?
My proudest moment has been joining the team to a large amount of past due invoices and watching it gradually dwindle down to a more manageable amount due to my persistence with the clients.

What do you hope to achieve in the coming months, year(s)?
I will be purchasing my first rental property.
