In this segment of our A Day in the Life series, where we recognize some of Jitjatjo’s Change Agents, we meet HR Operations Specialist, Alexi. Alexi takes us behind the scenes of her typical day and shares what she loves most about working at Jitjatjo.

Name:  Alexi Lowther

Title:  Senior HR Specialist

I love working at Jitjatjo because of the culture, the people I work with, and the constant support I have received from my first day until now!

What do you do at Jitjatjo and how long have you been with the company?
I started with Jitjatjo about 9 months ago. I work on the Talent Acquisition and People Team as an HR Operations Specialist.

What is your typical day like?
My typical day as an HR Operations Specialist starts with a large cup of coffee. Once settled in at my desk, I will start organizing my day by checking any personal messages I may have received overnight. I’ll focus on that until about 10 am before joining zoom to conduct the onboarding process for all new talent. During the duration of the interview hours, I will allocate time to my side tasks such as reviewing background checks, payroll, and any compliance-related matters.

How would you describe Jitjatjo in 3 words?
Innovative, Fast-paced, and Inclusive.

Why did you choose Jitjatjo?
Having a prior hospitality background, Jitjatjo gave me the opportunity to use my experience as well as expand on my knowledge of the industry.

What do you love most about working at Jitjatjo?
I love the Change Agents I work with and how creative Jitjatjo is in finding new ways to help the Talent community.

What do you think makes a great team?
Communication and support. I find that the best way to accomplish daily goals is to talk things through—whether it is someone on your team or not. Chances are if you don’t have the answer, someone always does and it’s great to work through it together.

What is your greatest achievement to date – personal or professional?
Graduating college during the start of a pandemic.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
To let things go. While it might seem like you failed at the moment, it is not the end of the world and everything has a solution!

What has been your proudest moment at Jitjatjo?
Starting off on the Talent Acquisition Team as an Operations Coordinator and transitioning onto the HR Team as the Senior HR Specialist. While working on two teams can be challenging at times, I get to work with two amazing teams with all different personalities and different levels of expertise. The best of both worlds!

What do you hope to achieve in the coming months, year(s)?
Continue to grow as an individual as well as within my HR career. I hope to continue to help the talent community have a fulfilling experience.
